Periodontists have the tough task of maintaining and promoting the health of a patients gums and tissue that surrounds and supports the teeth. Periodontists treat many gum diseases such as gingivitis and many forms of periodontitus as well as other infectious diseases of the gum tissue. They are also involved in the placement of dental implants.
There are many causes of periodontal disease such as hormonal factors, genetic issues, use of tobacco, medications, and of course poor oral hygiene. They key to battling any infectious gum disease is early detection and proper periodontal care.
Dr. Langer works very carefully with a board certified periodontist with many years of experience. During your routine checkup he will assess the health of your teeth and gums, ensuring that they are in healthy all the while looking for signs of infection. If an infection is present, Dr. Langer will proceed in the diagnosis of the infection or disease and go about the best way to handle the disease or infection.
